Aarlen – Trier

The project is designed with respect for the individuality of the existing building; through maximum preservation, we allow it to play a recognizable role. The transformation of the pedestal provides a qualitative ford whereby the boundary between public and private space is strongly intervened in favor of an inviting character. The whole is provided with a new elegant crowning which refers to the rhythm of the existing building but brings in its own individuality. A cleaning and treatment of the concrete allows the original shades and granules to speak again. Together with a sophisticated and refined detailing of the joinery, an homage to the modernist principles is created.
